Terms of Use

These terms govern the use of the Pet-it app and the petit-app.com website. We wrote them to be easy to understand: if anything is unclear, email us at contactopetit.app@gmail.com.

They apply to all accounts from October 10, 2026. How we handle your data is explained in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

1. Who we are

Pet-it is an app for pet owners. It is operated by Pablo Travi, from Argentina ("Pet-it", "we" or "us" in these terms). You can contact us at contactopetit.app@gmail.com, in Spanish or English. That address is also the single point of contact for users and authorities under the European Union Digital Services Act.

2. Acceptance and changes

By creating an account or using Pet-it you accept these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the app or in the law. If a change is significant, we will notify you in the app or by email at least 15 days before it takes effect, unless a legal or security change requires us to apply it sooner. If you do not accept the new version, you can delete your account at any time. Changes never apply retroactively.

3. Minimum age and your account

You must be 13 or older to use Pet-it. If the minimum age to use online services without parental permission is higher in your country (for example, 14, 15 or 16 in some European Union countries), your parent or guardian must accept these terms on your behalf.

  • Your account is personal: do not sell, lend or transfer it.
  • The information you provide must be true and up to date.
  • Keep your password safe. If you think someone accessed your account, change it and let us know.
  • We may ask you to confirm your identity or that you own the account when needed to protect you or others.

4. What Pet-it is

Pet-it lets you create profiles for your pets and post as them; share photos, videos (Zoomies) and stories; follow other pets; publish listings for lost, found and adoptable pets; get alerts about what happens nearby; take part in the community; find professionals and review them; and chat with other people.

Pet-it is free and funded by advertising. There are no in-app purchases.

5. Your content and the license you give us

What you post (photos, videos, texts, comments, listings, reviews and messages) remains yours.

So that we can show it, you give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, copy, adapt (for example, create thumbnails or crops), display and distribute it within Pet-it according to the privacy you choose. We may sublicense it only to the providers that help us run the service. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people have already shared or downloaded and for the technical deletion period explained in the Privacy Policy.

By posting, you confirm that you have the necessary rights to the content and the permission of the people who appear in it. Do not post other people's personal data without their consent.

6. Community rules

Pet-it has zero tolerance for objectionable content and for people who abuse others. You may not post, send or do:

  • Illegal content or content that promotes illegal activities.
  • Animal abuse, cruelty or fights, or content showing animals suffering other than to seek help or report it.
  • Selling, buying, renting or any commercial trade of animals. Adoptions must be free of charge.
  • Scams: asking for money to return a pet, fake listings, misleading rewards or impersonating owners.
  • Harassment, threats, hate speech or discrimination.
  • Nudity, sexual content or graphic violence, and any content that sexualizes or endangers minors.
  • Impersonating another person, brand or organization.
  • Posting other people's personal data without their permission.
  • Spam, chain messages, unauthorized advertising or manipulation of likes, followers or reports.
  • Viruses, malicious code, automated access, bulk data extraction (scraping) or attempts to breach security.
  • Infringing copyrights, trademarks or other third-party rights.
  • Creating accounts to evade a block or a suspension.

7. Lost, found and adoption listings

Pet-it only puts people in touch. We do not verify the identity of those who post, the condition of the animals or the truthfulness of listings, and we are not part of any agreement between users.

  • Whoever publishes a listing is responsible for it being true and up to date (for example, closing it when the pet is found or adopted).
  • If you do not choose to show the address, the listing shows an approximate location (about 100 meters around the point you marked).
  • The contact details you add to a listing (WhatsApp, phone or Instagram) are visible to people using the app.
  • Safety tips: meet in public places, ask for proof that the pet belongs to whoever claims it, and do not pay in advance.
  • Follow your local laws to adopt or give a pet up for adoption. Pet-it is not a party to the adoption.

8. Professionals and reviews

Professional profiles (vet clinics, groomers, dog walkers, daycares, foster homes and others) are created by the people responsible for them, who must hold any licenses the law requires. Pet-it does not check degrees or licenses and is not a party to the services you hire. A profile may be shown as verified when we checked some of its details; that is not a guarantee about the service.

Reviews must reflect a real experience. Pet-it does not verify that reviewers actually used the service: any fake or offensive review can be reported, and we remove it if it breaks these rules.

9. How we moderate content

We use these tools and measures to enforce the rules:

  • Automated image analysis. Every uploaded photo is analyzed with Google Cloud Vision to detect nudity, violence or explicit content. For pet photos, posts and listings, photos where a person is the main subject and no pet appears are also rejected. We do not use facial recognition or face detection. If the analysis rejects a photo, you see it right away and can ask for a review by email.
  • Reports. You can report posts, stories, comments, listings, professional profiles, community posts and conversations from the app. When content receives reports from three different people, it is automatically hidden until we review it. If three different people report an account for its messages, that account cannot start new conversations for 7 days while we review it; it can still reply in the ones it already has.
  • Human review. The Pet-it team reviews reports and review requests.
  • Blocking. You can block another person: neither of you will see the other's content or be able to message each other.
  • Measures. Depending on severity and repetition, we may hide or delete content, issue warnings, temporarily limit starting new conversations, suspend or delete accounts, and restrict people who repeatedly send clearly unfounded reports.

When we take action on your content or account, we notify you in the app or by email with the reason, whether the decision was automated and how to ask for a human review, unless the law prevents it. To appeal, email contactopetit.app@gmail.com within 6 months: a person reviews it and we reply with the decision.

10. How to report illegal content

Anyone, with or without an account, can tell us about content they believe is illegal by emailing contactopetit.app@gmail.com. So that we can act, include:

  • Why you believe the content is illegal.
  • Where it is: the name of the pet or profile, the date and, if possible, a screenshot.
  • Your name and email (not required for reports of child sexual abuse material).
  • A statement that you act in good faith and that the information is accurate.

We confirm receipt, assess the report diligently and let you know our decision. If content suggests a threat to someone's life or safety, we report it to the authorities.

11. How what you see is ordered

We do not use algorithms that analyze your tastes to decide what to show you. The order follows simple criteria:

  • Following: posts from the pets you follow, newest first.
  • Near you and Explore: first posts within 100 km of the area you chose, then from your country and then from the rest of the world; within each tier, by number of likes (we count one per person, even if they have several pets) and date.
  • Zoomies: nearby videos (with the same criteria), popular ones (by likes) or recent ones (by date), depending on the tab you choose.
  • Listings: by distance from your location.

You can change your area at any time.

12. Advertising

Pet-it shows ads from Google AdMob, labeled "Ad". Personalized ads are shown only if you consent, which you can change in Settings → Ad privacy (when available in your country) or in your phone settings. We do not sell your personal data.

13. Messages

Chats are private between their participants. They are not end-to-end encrypted: we only access them when needed to handle a report, comply with a legal obligation or protect the security of the service. If you delete your account, the other person keeps the messages you sent them, with your name replaced by "Deleted account".

From the chat you can mute a conversation, block the other person or report them. If you report a conversation, the Pet-it team reviews the messages you reported.

14. Pet-it intellectual property

The Pet-it app, brand, design and software belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, free, non-exclusive and non-transferable license to use the app under these terms. You may not copy, modify, decompile or use it for commercial purposes, except as expressly allowed by law.

16. Account suspension and deletion

You can delete your account whenever you want from Settings → Delete account or from this page.

We may suspend or delete an account for serious or repeated breaches of these terms, by order of an authority, or to prevent harm to other people or to the service. We will tell you the reason and how to appeal, unless the law prevents it or telling you would put an investigation or someone's safety at risk.

17. Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep Pet-it running well, but there may be interruptions, errors or changes in features. We may modify or discontinue features; if a significant change affects you, we will give you reasonable notice.

18. Liability

Pet-it is provided as is, to the extent permitted by law. We are not responsible for content posted by users, for the conduct of other people inside or outside the app, for adoptions, meetings or agreements between users, or for the services of professionals.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence or for harm to life or health, or the rights granted to you by the consumer protection laws of your country of residence (for example, Argentine Law 24,240 or European Union consumer law).

If you use Pet-it for purposes other than personal ones, to the extent permitted by law you are responsible for third-party claims arising from your content or from breaching these terms.

19. If you downloaded Pet-it from the App Store or Google Play

The store's terms also apply. If you use an Apple device, these terms are an agreement between you and Pet-it, not with Apple: Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide support or maintenance, and is not liable for claims about the app (including intellectual property or legal compliance claims). Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. By using the app you represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government list of restricted parties.

20. Governing law and complaints

These terms are governed by the laws of the Argentine Republic, and any dispute is resolved by the ordinary courts of the City of Buenos Aires. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring your claim before the courts where you live.

Before filing a claim, write to us: we try to resolve it within 30 days at most.

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Pet-it processes, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and how you can exercise your rights. It applies to the Pet-it app and the petit-app.com website, and is designed to comply with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), its UK version, U.S. state privacy laws (including California's CCPA/CPRA), the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Argentine Law 25,326.

1. Summary

  • We use your data to make the app work: your account, your pets, what you post, your messages and nearby alerts.
  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • The location we store for alerts is approximate (about 1 km).
  • Your contacts are only used if you tap "Find friends", and we do not store them.
  • Personalized ads only appear if you consent.
  • You can download your data and delete your account from the app.

2. Who is responsible

The data controller is Pablo Travi, who operates Pet-it from Argentina ("Pet-it", "we" or "us" in this policy). For any privacy question, email us at contactopetit.app@gmail.com. We have not appointed a data protection officer because we are not required to.

3. What data we process

Support and reports: your name, email and message when you write to us; the reports you make and, if you report a conversation, a copy of up to 10 of the reported messages.You.Reply to you and moderate content.

We do not ask for or process sensitive data such as people's health, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation or biometric data. Please do not include it in what you post.

5. What is public and what is not

  • Visible to people using Pet-it (and findable in search): your username and profile photo; your pets' name, species, breed, gender and photo; listings, professional profiles, reviews and community posts.
  • Depending on each pet's privacy: if public, anyone sees its posts and stories and can find its posts by their text or #hashtags; if private, only its owners and the followers you approved. A pet marked as lost becomes visible to everyone to help find it.
  • Only for you and the other owners: health records, routines and your settings.
  • Private between participants: chats, except for messages someone reports, which the Pet-it team reviews.
  • Published location: posts show at most an approximate area; listings, an approximate location unless you choose to show the address; professional profiles, the address of the place.

6. Contacts

Only if you tap "Find friends" and grant permission does the app read the emails and phone numbers in your contacts. Since version 19 of the app, it turns them into digital fingerprints (SHA-256 hashes) on your phone and sends only those hashes; earlier versions send the data over an encrypted connection. On the server they are compared in memory with the hashes of existing accounts, we show you who already uses Pet-it, and they are discarded: we do not store your contacts. Your email and phone number (if you added one) are also stored as hashes so your contacts can find you.

7. Automated decisions

  • Image analysis: Google Cloud Vision analyzes each photo when it is uploaded, and the result only decides whether it is accepted. We do not store the result or use facial recognition or face detection. If you believe a photo was rejected by mistake, ask for a human review.
  • Reports: content with three reports is automatically hidden until a person reviews it, and we notify whoever posted it.
  • Chat reports: if three different people report an account for its messages, starting new conversations is automatically limited for 7 days until a person reviews it, and we notify the account.
  • Feed order: based on proximity, likes and date, not on your tastes.

None of these decisions produces legal effects on you. You can still ask us to have a person review them.

8. Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data. We only share it with:

9. International transfers

Your data is stored on Google Cloud servers in São Paulo (Brazil), and some providers process it in other countries, including the United States. Pet-it is operated from Argentina, which the European Commission recognizes as providing an adequate level of protection. For other transfers outside the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses included in our providers' contracts and, where applicable, on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards.

11. What happens when you delete your account

You can delete your account in Settings → Delete account (we ask for your password, or to type DELETE if you sign in with Google or Apple) or by writing to us. Your account stops working immediately and within minutes we erase your user, email, phone number, photo and settings; the pets you are the only owner of, with their posts, photos, videos, stories, health records and routines; your listings, professional profiles and community posts; the comments, likes and reviews you left; your saved posts, blocks, reports and notifications; and your sign-in with email, Google or Apple.

We keep the messages you sent, which the other person still sees with your name replaced by "Deleted account"; pets you share with other owners; and technical records and reports other people made about your account for the periods in the table above. More information on how to delete your account.

12. Your rights and how to exercise them

Wherever you are, you can:

  • Access your data and take it with you: in Settings → Download my data you create a file with your account information.
  • Correct it: from your profile and your pets' profiles.
  • Delete it: by deleting content or your account.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest and ask us to restrict the use of your data.
  • Withdraw your consent (location, notifications, contacts, personalized ads) from the app or your phone settings, without affecting what was done before.
  • Ask for a person to review an automated decision.

For any other request, email contactopetit.app@gmail.com from your account email. To protect your data we may ask you to confirm your identity. We reply within 30 days (45 days for U.S. residents), a period we may extend where the law allows; if so, we will let you know. We do not charge for handling your requests unless they are manifestly unfounded or excessive.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can file a complaint with the data protection authority of your country. In Argentina it is the Agency for Access to Public Information (argentina.gob.ar/aaip).

13. Additional information for U.S. residents

This section supplements the policy for residents of California and of the other states with privacy laws (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas and Oregon).

Categories of data we collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (email, username, IP address, device and advertising identifiers); account records (phone number); activity information in the app (posts, interactions, messages); geolocation data (approximate for alerts, and precise only for the location of listings you decide to publish); audiovisual content (photos and videos); and support communications. Sources, purposes, recipients and retention periods are described in this policy.

Sensitive data: sign-in credentials and the precise location of listings you publish are used only to provide the service you asked for, so we do not use them to infer characteristics about you.

Sale and "sharing": we do not sell personal data. If you accept personalized ads, Google's SDK may use device identifiers for advertising based on your activity in other apps, which some laws consider "sharing" or "targeted advertising". You can opt out in Settings → Ad privacy when available, by turning off or resetting the advertising ID in Android settings, or by not allowing tracking on iOS. You can also email us.

Your rights: to know what data we hold and get a copy, delete it, correct it, and opt out of sale, "sharing" and targeted advertising. You can act through an authorized agent, who must prove their authority. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Appeals: if we deny your request, you can appeal by emailing contactopetit.app@gmail.com with the subject "Appeal". We reply within 45 days; if you still disagree, you can contact your state's Attorney General.

California Shine the Light and Nevada: we do not share personal data with third parties for their own direct marketing and we do not sell covered data.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals: the website does not track its visitors, so there is nothing to turn off; the app does not receive these browser signals and offers the controls described above.

14. Additional information for the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland

The legal bases for each processing activity are in the section "Why we use your data". You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can file a complaint with the supervisory authority of the country where you live or work, or where the alleged infringement took place. The safeguards for transfers are in "International transfers".

15. Children

Pet-it is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. In countries where the minimum age to consent to online services is higher, users under that age need permission from a parent or guardian. If you know a child under 13 gave us data, email us and we will delete it.

16. Phone permissions

  • Location (while using the app): for nearby content and alerts. Never in the background.
  • Photos and camera: to post and change your profile photo. We only access the photos you choose.
  • Contacts: only for "Find friends".
  • Notifications: to tell you about activity, messages and alerts.
  • Tracking (iOS): only for personalized ads.

You can grant or remove each permission at any time in your phone settings. The app keeps working, although some features may be limited.

17. On-device storage and cookies

The app stores on your phone your session, your preferences (language, autoplay, reminders), the area you chose, post drafts and your active pet. If you sign in with email, it stores your password in the phone's secure storage (Keychain or Keystore) to confirm sensitive changes; it is deleted when you sign out.

The petit-app.com website does not use cookies or tracking tools, and serves its fonts and libraries from our own server. Our hosting provider logs technical visit data (such as the IP address) for security.

18. Security

We protect your data with encrypted connections (HTTPS), Google Cloud encryption at rest, authentication on every request, rules that prevent direct access to the database, signed expiring links to display the photos and videos of posts and stories, and restricted access for the team. No system is infallible: if an incident affects your data, we will notify you and the authorities as required by law.

19. Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they apply. The date of the last update is at the top of this page.
